Meet the Team: Berend Jan – Young talent with a down-to-earth mindset

At De Vries Hanze, we believe in craftsmanship and people who simply get things done. People with a feel for engineering, insight into construction and a solid, no-nonsense attitude. Berend Jan (20, from Ten Post) fits that description perfectly.

Introduced to us through his father — who has known Marcel Oomen for many years — Berend Jan joined De Vries Hanze earlier this year. What started as an internship in mechanical engineering quickly turned into a permanent position in our workshop. Today, he is involved in welding, assembling, modifying and repairing a wide range of machines for reed processing and nature management.

Berend Jan is naturally calm, yet always attentive. He thinks ahead, spots improvements quickly and works with focus and precision until everything is right. Not a talker, but a thinker — the kind of person whose results speak louder than words.

His understanding of structural design and feel for solid workmanship make him stand out. He combines technical know-how with practical common sense — a combination that suits the way we work at De Vries Hanze: thoughtful, reliable and straightforward.

Outside work, Berend Jan spends most of his time on the land, doing what he loves most: mowing, silage work and ploughing. That same dedication shows in his daily work — steady, hands-on and focused on getting it done.

As for future plans? Nothing set in stone yet, and that’s fine. For now, he’s building his experience step by step, with the same calm determination that defines his work. Young, but with the mindset of someone who knows exactly what he’s doing.

At De Vries Hanze, we’re proud of people like Berend Jan — down-to-earth professionals who make the difference by simply being great at what they do.
